High End Antenna Systems for Ground Segment
Today, HITEC Luxembourg offers a range of Limited Motion (LM) and Full Motion (FM) high end antenna systems, operating in various frequency ranges and supporting institutional and commercial satellite constellations at a national and an international level. HITEC Luxembourg has successfully developed a wide range of satellite ground antennas. We work on the development of concepts, design, project management, supervision of antenna construction and manufacture and staff training. The company is on its way to implement a complete range of high end LMA and FMA systems over the next years and thus offer ITAR free systems to the industry. In the field of antenna systems the company offers programme management, design, engineering, integration, installation and commissioning of specific components used in the antenna systems, like de-icing and ACU all conceived internally. Besides the LMA and FMA systems, HITEC Luxembourg can also offer special tailor made designs. HITEC Luxembourg is specialised in the design and construction of HITEC Luxembourg is entering the field of Antenna Control Units (ACU). The company plans to have a full range of Antenna Control Units available by 2011/12. A basic version with the functionality of program track is already in use and it constitutes the starting point of HITEC’s ACU product series. The antenna control system's servo loop features among others HITEC's unique backlash control for two or more drive trains per axes. TCP/IP interface enables full remote access and control as well to client stations as also to superordinate M/C systems. The Antenna Front Panel (AFP) is a modular solution that can be installed in a dedicated PLC or be integrated in the antenna control system's servo unit. It features several local monitoring and control functions of peripheral tasks like antenna de-icing, HVAC of critical antenna parts like the center hub, but also status of the servo components and safety installations. It constitutes an intelligent and flexible interface to remote Monitoring & Control systems. Further extensions will allow control of RF parts like LNA redundancy, which then can also be accessed by remote M&C. HITEC had developed and realized for many years Monitoring and Control (M&C) Systems to control multi-channel ground stations. In addition to basic functions such as alarm notification and reporting, the system has an intelligent managing processor enabling automatic procedures such as back-up switching. A web-based architecture enables remote access of a given station at any time and at any place. Devices that can be monitored and/or controlled go from transmit/receive equipment such as LNAs, up- or down-converters, modulators, amplifiers, to measurement equipment such as power meters or spectrum analyzers. The objective is to include more and more of these functionalisms into the AFP modular solution. The competencies offered by the multi-disciplinary team of HITEC Luxembourg and its confirmed expertise in commissioning and site installation makes it an ideal partner for transformations and retrofitting of existing systems. The new product range for antenna control will make HITEC even stronger for refurbishment of drive systems to state of the art servo technology. In the frame of this activity, the Company T‑Systems awarded HITEC Luxembourg S.A. the renewal of the antenna control system of an 18 m diameter antenna in Usingen, Germany. SES ENGINEERING, the operations and procurement division of the SES Group, selected HITEC Luxembourg for the planning, transport and retrofitting of a 6 meter antenna across Luxembourg as well as the subsequent on-site installation. With our years of experience in international and national projects, we are able to offer successful, client-oriented development and deployment of satellite antennas. HITEC Luxembourg has developed several satellite antenna systems for SES ASTRA’s main ground centre facilities at Betzdorf, Luxembourg. Six 9-meter limited motion, dual channel mono-pulse uplink and TT&C antennas, operating in Ku- and extended Ku-Band, have been commissioned for the Betzdorf ground facilities. The AS09 antenna concept offers various options for the mechanical base and feed system. SES ASTRA is an SES GLOBAL company. The ASTRA satellite system is the leading direct-to-home (DTH) satellite system in Europe, delivering services to some 107 million direct-to-home and cable households. To mention just two examples, VINASAT and the GALILEO project were opportunities to demonstrate Luxembourg know-how internationally in the Satellite Ground Segment, in cooperation with many Luxembourg companies. Only because of HITEC Luxembourg's long experience in design and engineering, planning, integration and installation as well as our partner's technological knowhow we are able to take part in the concept development in particular and a large project of this kind in general, despite strong international competition. |
